Advertising- Hydration Animating

When coming to an  animating I was given the walk cycle scenes, although challenging I felt the scenes when not really needed in the animation and where the least important for however I wanted to try and complete this and create a good walk cycle.

Before animating ad previously learnt how to animate a rich and had practice creating a walk cycle. however the rig for the scientists was less defined which would caused his body to deform if I stretched him too far. So I had to animate him making small steps. There were some of the problems with the rig which caused difficulty when animating.

This is the walk cycle I had previously done, it took me some time to get right I was also able to make him jump am now working on other cycles such as running and tiptoe.

Animating the scientist was more challenging, as this was a full character and I had to take into consideration all he's body movements that would move as he walked and this would take me some time to get done correctly.

My first attempt at creating a realistic walk with the scientist was not so realistic.  There were many problems with this walk cycle, for one he didn't always look like he was walking, I made him take small steps as there were problems with the rig which would make him deformed if I made him take too big of a step. I used the global controller and pushed him forward often too far, making him miss steps and skip. Also the arms were not moving natural as he walked. Unfortunately this was the cycle that got  rendered. We decided not to use this walk  as it was not natural and did not fit in the animation.

I made several improvements to the walk circle that follow in the video and cut the scenes so you'd see him walk in one part and then it would cut to the next part where he arrived. however because of the time frame that we had we were unable to render the new scenes.

Advertising- Hydration Project Design

These are the storyboards which were created for the project.

What I tried to work on was designs of the room and of the machine. this was the design of the machine another member of the group did, which I was asked to model.

Advertising- Hydration project

The concept we chose was 'creating rain' Can you create rain? What if you could create rain? How do you create rain? The purpose of this advert was to highlight the drought that is happening around the world and how we can take water for granted where others don't have this luxury.

The idea we had was to show a scientist attempting to create rain. he would attempt to create rain in the number of different ways as he progressed he's methods would become increasingly desperate and unorthodox.

How we wanted to do this was, to have one character and have him attempt to make the water in these different means.  After failing at all attempts he would give up and a message would appear stating a fact.

This is a good animation I found this highlights the problem in a very formal and great video.

Wasted Digbeth Final animation

Here it is, this is the final version of our project on wasted Digbeth.

The idea and connotations around this animation was to show an average person who finds himself in a strange land, as he roams around he becomes accustomed and settled in his new surroundings. However to his dismay he soon comes across areas which are empty and wasted spaces being, disheartened by this he wants to make a change, he wants to make the place better seeing the potential it has he looks for the cause of this to fix it.

The connotation behind making the man have no distinct facial figures was to make him relatable to the audience to a new person coming into Digbeth. The thought behind the wasted areas highlighted in red was to show how they stand out and are noticeable. The man is content and likes the place until he sees these areas wasted.  What I wanted to show was how these areas have a negative affect on how people view Digbeth. He was settled in the area before seeing the wasted. areas he realized the place could be so much more. Therefore we made the cracks start to affect the developed areas.

Finally, once he has fixed the problem, everything changes making him more happy with the area and giving Digbeth a brighter future.

Overall I found this to be more engaging, entertaining and visually attractive piece than how we previously wanted to address the subject and I hope you found it to be so as well.
The method of how we made this inspires me very much. I like how we had done the backgrounds in 3-D rendering just that. And then creating the animation in flash, I like using this technique and hope I can experiment with it again in future projects.

Digbeth- Modelling and Effects 2

For the end sequence the new buildings would emerge in colour in a similar way to sonic generations trailer. With the bridge, I modelled this in different segments first completing the base of the bridge, then morving onto the pillars that would hold structure. Once  I had completed the model I would pass it on to another member who then coloured it in photoshop.

This process followed for the two remaining models shown.
