When coming to an animating I was given the walk cycle scenes, although challenging I felt the scenes when not really needed in the animation and where the least important for however I wanted to try and complete this and create a good walk cycle.
Before animating ad previously learnt how to animate a rich and had practice creating a walk cycle. however the rig for the scientists was less defined which would caused his body to deform if I stretched him too far. So I had to animate him making small steps. There were some of the problems with the rig which caused difficulty when animating.
This is the walk cycle I had previously done, it took me some time to get right I was also able to make him jump am now working on other cycles such as running and tiptoe.
Animating the scientist was more challenging, as this was a full character
and I had to take into consideration all he's body movements that would move as he walked and this
would take me some time to get done correctly.
My first attempt at creating a realistic walk with the scientist was not so realistic. There were many problems with this walk cycle, for one he didn't always look like he was walking, I made him take small steps as there were problems with the rig which would make him deformed if I made him take too big of a step. I used the global controller and pushed him forward often too far, making him miss steps and skip. Also the arms were not moving natural as he walked. Unfortunately this was the cycle that got rendered. We decided not to use this walk as it was not natural and did not fit in the animation.
I made several improvements to the walk circle that follow in the video and cut the scenes so you'd see him walk in one part and then it would cut to the next part where he arrived. however because of the time frame that we had we were unable to render the new scenes.
